Antique Appraisal & Chili Lunch
February 16, 2020

On a sunny winter day, many people came to the annual Antique Appraisal & Chili Lunch to have their treasures evaluated by five expert appraisers: Lee Bernard, Colleen Craig, Jerry Dutscheck, Mark Mudek and Tom Staats. There were vintage toys, jewelry, military articles, books, furniture, and paintings -- even a pair of old skies and a valuable lamp. Some visitors found their items were worth more than they thought – others found out they were delightful memories to keep but would not finance their retirement. There was even a genealogist on hand to help delve into your family history.

The aroma of chili drifted throughout the Richfield Fire Hall enticing visitors to enjoy a bowl for lunch: tangy, mild or white chili -- whichever you wanted -- with all the fixins' plus a muffin, brownie and beverage. Hot dogs and chili dogs were served to round out the menu. An additional treat was a slice of delicious homemade pie.

At the Silent Auction, theme baskets donated by Richfield Historical Society members were a hit -- bidders chose from a basket filled with chocolate, golfing opportunities, cheese and much more.

For the first time, a drawing was held for a $50 prize. The winning ticket was owned by Pat S. Pat is a Germantown resident who is familiar with the Richfield Historical Park. She has attended other RHS events and admires the volunteers who maintain the Park and make the events happen. Thank You, Pat!

A heart-felt Thank You to all who attended and volunteered. This successful event was sponsored by the Richfield Historical Society. Its profits help with the restoration of the Messer/Mayer Mill and the Society's other projects.  You, too, could help with this restoration by contributing to the Messer/Mayer Restoration Fund.
